What Is the Call?
Let me start by asking you a few questions:
• Do you feel different from others?
• Do estranged or hurting people seem drawn to you? And do you also feel—or sometimes feel—this way: hurt or estranged?
• Do you tend to feel deep compassion for people—sometimes too much?
• Do you sometimes feel everything all at once?
• Do you feel a fire in your heart when there is injustice?
• Do you genuinely exercise kindness? Or do you experience anger?
• Do you feel unseen, misunderstood?
• Do you feel like a punching bag—or do you sometimes make others a punching bag?
• Do you make yourself a punching bag?
If these questions resonate with you, I don’t believe it’s by accident that you’re here. You were highlighted for a reason.
I felt encouraged to create this site as an invitation: to help you identify your gifts, reconnect with your creativity, and sharpen these heightened senses—rather than feel overwhelmed by them. I believe these heightened senses are gifts, and they are needed in a world starving for true connection—with others, and with ourselves.
The Calling is an invitation to discover your God-given purpose. An invitation into a real relationship with a real, living, and breathing God—the One who knows the hidden struggles that others don’t see on the surface.
This is also an invitation to become equipped—to fight the battles of life, and the deeper battles of spiritual warfare.
What is spiritual warfare? I believe it’s when unaware and unattended, possibly inherited, psychological hindering characteristics to one’s growth, and possibly growing up feeling neglected or misunderstood ware within us, and ware against each other in the world. In those moments when there is rage, anger, and cursed words spoken, I believe portals to the darkness is manifest through these unattended hindering growth cycles which can also be defined as demons. Do you feel like you’ve been neglected—or do you feel like you’ve been neglecting yourself—possibly repeating an unwarranted pattern that feels familiar, and an unwarranted pattern that does not feel right? A hindering pattern possibly passed down through one’s lineage—trying to repeat itself through one’s own life experience.
This is a call to break those generational cycles—of slavery and bondage! Whether it’s substance use, mental illness, or psychological traits that try to block a good inheritance—this is about identifying them and bringing hidden things to light.
These hindering characteristics might even look like people-pleasing, narcissism, passive aggression, toxic empathy, or not yet becoming equipped to honor one’s own boundaries—or maybe not yet being equipped to know social boundaries with others. It’s the digging to get to the root of what has been the catalyst of any hindering trait that may lead to addictive behavior and repetitive hindering cycles.
I was encouraged to create The Call because of what God has done in me and what He has done through me—because of how He has equipped me, and continues to, through the very real, deep-rooted issues hidden under layers of unfair circumstances and unhealed wounds. Circumstances that shaped harmful patterns in me, causing harm not only to myself but also to those closest to me, as the prideful drive in me swept me into a toxic cycle of deception. Until I was awakened—when I finally took off the rose-colored glasses I had worn for years.
The God who had been pursuing me never stopped, especially through the unfairness, the unawareness, and my own emotional and neurological struggles that led me into cycles of sin, then to deadly sin (more on this).
In Hebrew, sin is called kata, which means “failed goals.” In Greek, sin means “missing the mark.” I had failed goals and missed the mark—missed opportunities, missed the one target my soul truly longed for: my spirit and soul to be reunited to the love I was created for—the love and relationship back with God, the Creator of all—the Creator of me.
Vulnerable and without the right tools to face the world’s unfairness, I fell into deep despair and almost lost my life. God saved me. By His mercy and grace, He saved my soul from deadly sin unleashed. It was when I surrendered my whole life back into His hands and answered the call He placed inside of me when I was just a thought in His creation. That’s when everything began to change.
I deeply wanted to know the God who saved me. I felt His love—but I wanted to know Him. I wanted to know His story.
I was inspired by a friend to begin reading Scripture from the beginning. But even before this, I had been seeking understanding within myself—spiritually, biologically, genetically, and neurologically—which I believe was preparation for this time. Ever since, I have been on a journey of deep uprooting, mind renewal, and discovering what it means to have a firm foundation and to be formed into my true identity in Christ—meaning beneath all the layers of unwarranted hindering characteristics, the layers I was unaware of, and the the layers I had designed.
I didn’t realize how starved I was in my soul and in my spirit until my body began experiencing a complete nourishment that I was desperately soaking in and eating—the Word that was bringing me to life. It wasn’t just reading His Word; it was understanding it. For me, this meant understanding His Word historically, metaphorically, poetically, and culturally—understanding the words, their etymology, and the linguistics behind them.
I didn’t even know I was studying Scripture exegetically. Studying Scripture exegetically means studying deeply and carefully to get the original meaning. This word in Greek is exēgeomai, which means “to lead out” or “to explain.”
But it was also the revelation along my journey and in my day-to-day life, when the words I was reading were revealed in real life.
Here’s how I describe it: When someone auditions for a role in a film, they’re given “sides”—short script selections that reflect part of the story. Different actors interpret those sides based on their unique life experiences, skills, talents, and character. Thousands might be considered for one role.
But with God’s Story, we’re each given the script. And when you answer the call, you’re given the part. God searches the hearts of many, but He chose you to fill a role in His greater narrative—if you’re willing to say yes.
Scripture has been my journey of learning the role written for me—being built, shaped, and formed to become the character I was created to walk in.
So…
Who is God?
What is His story?
What is His plan?
Would you like to be part of His greater story?
If your heart says yes—or even if you’re just curious to learn who God is and who you are in the pure form of your design—it begins with seeking a truth that will set you free (John 8:31–32). It begins with turning the first page. And from there, I believe God will begin to show you the path to life.
